CD V-717
High-Range Radiation Survey Meter
[0-500 R/hr range]

The CD V-717 is a high range gamma survey meter intended for general post-nuclear incident operational use. The instrument has the exact operating specifications as the CD V-715 with an added feature: A removeable bottom tray containing the ionization chamber and a 25' extension cable. The cable allows for measurement of radiation levels outside of a shelter while the metering portion of the instrument remains inside the shelter with the user.

The ranges of this instrument are 0-0.5 R/h, 0-5 R/h, 0-50 R/h and 0-500 R/h.

This instrument was designed for use by radiological monitors in the period following a major radiological incident or attack. While the instrument is primarily for surface survey applications, it can serve as supplemental equipment for aerial measurements.

5.25 pounds, 3-part die cast aluminum case, watertight, will float. Powered with one D-sized battery, continuously for 150 hours, longer if on intermittent basis.

Instrument accuracy on any of its four ranges is within +- 20% of true dose rate. Use of remote cable (25') should not degrade accuracy more than 5%. Detachable bottom section, containing ion chamber, can be set up for remote sensing with included cable.

We strongly recommend acquiring a copy of FEMA's 'Radiation Safety In Shelters' along with this device. The book describes the use of this specific instrument in considerable detail and makes an excellent reference manual. The book can be found on our Products page HERE, or free online HERE.
